Superintendent’s Letter – April 2012

This month we’ll see quite a bit of change and maintenance activity on the course.  The tees and fairways will begin to show color and the first fertilizer application will be applied.  This will play a major role in speeding up winter recovery.  We will also begin to see areas that might need new sod due to winter damage.  This is completely normal with the Southeast climate.  New mowing patterns will also appear which will help remove the grain in the fairways and improve the density of the grass.  With extra fertilizer and new mowing patterns we hope to see major improvements in the fairways.

Golf season is beginning to gear up and we still need the membership’s help on the course.  Please remember to repair your ball marks. This is extremely important on the roll of the ball.  There is nothing worse than when you miss a putt because it “bounces” over an unrepaired ball mark.

See you on the course,

Kyle Macdonald,

Class A, GCS
